We’ve been playing catch up for July and August, but this month we will be making these flying geese blocks.  Bring your fabric and your machine and all your cutting and piecing supplies.  You can choose to use just 2 fabrics, or 4 like I show in the picture above.  See you on Thursday!

Pieces of Me–Quilt Website

My Mom pointed out this website.  Pretty cool stories and quilts to check out here on this site.  Click on the picture to go check it out.  Maybe you have a story you want to share…

So choose 2 contrasting fabrics, and possibly a third for the border if you want it to be different.  See you then!

Grandmother's Flower Garden

For our February meeting, we learned how to make Grandmother's Flower Garden. We cut out hexagons and hand pieced them together to create the basic flower shape. It was fun to learn a way to quilt on the go!

While I was in Utah, I found this sample quilt at one of my favorite quilt shops, Quilter's Haven in Bountiful. So with permission, I took a picture to bring back to show the group.

Block of the Month

If you are looking for some more opportunities for quilting, I came across a fun Block of the Month that is going on right now.  It actually started in Sept 2011 and runs through Oct 2012, but you can start anytime you want.  For more info, check out the following link:

http://cvquiltworks.blogspot.com/2011/09/bloggers-bom-quilt-along.html

Bloggers are taking turns hosting a block tutorial each month.

They also have a flickr group for participants to post their blocks which is fun to look through.

Happy Quilting!

March

In March we will be learning about hand piecing and drafting our own blocks using freezer paper templates.

Here are the blocks we will be making:

Nine Patches and Florence Nightingale blocks.

Looking forward to our March meeting!
